Wildest Dream Farm

Justus is a therapy dog.  He is a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.  He is about the size of a sheep.  He weighs 145 pounds.  He has soft fur, it is black, brown and some white.

Justus comes to our class on Fridays.  He likes treats.  We give him a massage.  His eyes get tired looking.

He has a blanket and a kid’s chair folding chair.  One day he sat in the chair just like a kid.  It was so funny!

We are lucky; it is special to have Justus come to visit us.

This is a a shared writing by the 3^rd and 4^th graders in Mrs. Guthrie’s CI class a Prarie Elementary.

Justus is owned and trained by Tina Bailey.  He is a certified therapy dog through Therapy Dog Inc.  He has also been certified as a Reading Education Assistance Dog,  R.E.A.D.  One child will read with him once a week for six weeks.  This gives the child a chance to practice their reading in a non-threatening, non-judgmental environment.  The purpose is to improve the child’s confidence and reading fluency.  Justus has just completed his fourth week with his first reader and the improvement is amazing.  We are most fortunate to have this unique opportunity for our students.
