GCh. Wildest Dream Intangible (Tangee) became a Grand Champion today (11-7-10) down in Fort Wayne Indiana. This is Wildest Dream's first Grand Champion (AKC started the Grand Championship on 4-21-2010). Why is this important if you are looking for a pet or companion dog? In a nut shell, dogs that become Champions compete in the confirmation ring. In the confirmation ring dogs (male and female) are judge against the standard (in our case the perfect Greater Swiss Mountain Dog). The dog determined closest to the standard wins. It is not a beauty contest. In Swissies markings are purely secondary, the underlying structure, temperament, movement etc. of the dog is what is being judged primarily. A Swissy that is put together well should have fewer muscle skeletal issues in it's lifetime thus attributing to a longer, healthier life. Of course the care and feeding of well put together dog is also pinnacle to it's health and longevity.
